Roberto Rosetti has been employed as the head of Russian refereeing. The Russian football union has acquired his services until 2015, and this appointment is a part of their preparation for the 2018 World Cup. Rosetti comes from administrative work with the Italian Football Federation where he was responsible for the referees in Serie B.
Rosetti retired last year after having refereed in the 2010 World Cup. He was involved in the round of 16 match between Mexico and Argentina where the referees were criticised for allowing Argentina’s 1-0 goal to stand. In 2008 Rosetti was selected to referee the Euro 2008 final between Spain and Germany. In 2006 he got to go to the 2006 World Cup in Germany as a result of another official failing their fitness test.
