Drogba and Bosingwa ban reduced

by Martin Rødvand on July 15, 2009

After the spectacle that was the Champions League semi-final between Chelsea and Barcelona, Drogba and Bosingwa was handed reasonable bans by UEFA. They decided to appeal against the punishment and UEFA announced their appeal decision today.

UEFA.com writes:

“Under the UEFA Appeals Body’s verdicts, Drogba will be suspended for five UEFA club competition matches – the last two of which will be deferred for a probationary period of three years – and has been fined €15,000. Bosingwa will be suspended for three UEFA club competition matches, the last of which is deferred for a probationary period of three years, and fined €10,000.”

Drogba and Bosingwa got off with one match less to serve. Not what I wanted from UEFA.

Chelsea to appeal Drogba and Bosingwa punishment

Multiple media sources confirm that Chelsea will be launching an appeal to UEFA after the incidents after last May’s Champions League semi-final. Didier Drogba received a six-match ban (two suspended) while Jose Bosingwa received a four-match ban (one suspended.)

See England captain and Chelsea skipper John Terry blame it all on emotions to BBC.
