UEFA ban referees in relation to match-fixing and corruption

Uefa today announced that three European match officials have been banned or suspended after information gathered by German police.

Uefa.com writes:

Novo Panić, a referee from Bosnia and Herzegovina, has been banned for life from any football activities. Tomislav Šetka, an assistant referee from Croatia, has been suspended until 30 June 2011. Oleh Orekhov, a referee from Ukraine, has been suspended provisionally for 30 days. His case will be examined on 18 March. Decisions are all subject to appeal within three days of the sending of the reasons for the decision.

On the latest Uefa referee categories, Novo Panic was a category 3 referee with Oleh Orekhov being a category 2 referee.

Uefa also writes that no action would be taken against suspended referee Anton Genov after an investigation around irregular betting activities. On the latest Uefa list, the Bulgarian is a Premier referee.
