Tony Chapron gets suspended ban after comments

by Martin Rødvand on April 19, 2011

Tony Chapron has been given a three month suspended ban after comments made about the French Football Federation in relation to the referees’ protest early in March.

The French referee union, SAFE, wanted to start the games 15 minutes delayed as a protest against dissent from players and coaches. The FFF disagreed with the referees and replaced all top flight referees with referees from the third-tier in France. Chapron commented on the decision and called the FFF “people who are not at the top of their ability”.

Tony Chapron is currently on the Premier Development list in Uefa.

This is not the first time a referee has come into trouble for his actions. Swiss referee Massimo Busacca was given a three match suspension in 2009 for gestures against a supporter.

Team banned for life after referee assault

by Martin Rødvand on July 4, 2009

Northampton Chronicle and Echo writes:

“The tension culminated when the Northys Lights goalkeeper conceded a goal and looked about to be sent off for arguing with Mr Durrant.

According to the witness statement of one player, an off-duty policeman, Galvin walked up to Durrant and punched him once in the face, knocking him to the ground, before turning and walking off the pitch.

Galvin, who the court heard was already on an anger management course at the time, was later arrested for assault, which he admitted.

His team has subsequently been banned for life from all Inter Soccer’s leagues across the UK.”

I’ve previously reported on people throwing coins getting bans, but this is getting out of hand. It’s not respect.
