Reuters reports that Benin referee Coffi Codjia has been suspended by the Confederation of African Football after the headbutt incident in the semi-final between Algeria and Egypt.
Codjia, who is on the shortlist for the upcoming World Cup, was selected for the 2002 World Cup in South Korea as well as the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
The semi-final Codjia refereed was littered with controversial incidents, with three red cards to Algeria. The reason cited for suspending Codjia was him failing to report the incident where the Algerian goalkeeper headbutted Codjia, only to receive a yellow card.
FIFA met last week to select the final referees for the World Cup and the final announcement is set for February 5th.
