Belgian referees with orange sponsorship deal

The Royal Belgian Football Association has entered a sponsorship deal with ING Belgium. While it is normal that companies are sponsoring referees in the national top division, ING and the RBFA has entered a rather special deal.

As part of their deal, the RBFA has manufactured an orange referee shirt to be used during the season. As a gesture to ING, the referees will wear the orange shirt on match day 1. Orange is the main colour of ING Belgium.

The orange shirt will be a part of the referees wardrobe the next seasons. Other colours to be used in this season’s Jupiter League are black, blue, yellow and red.

The deal was announced late July, and will run for the next two years, with an option to extend it for another two years. While ING is the main sponsor of the referees, PATRICK is the supplier of referee equipment.

The Premier League’s refereeing body, the Professional Game Match Officials, announced earlier this month that they will be sponsored by Tune Group for the next three seasons.

Frank De Bleeckere, the top Belgian referee, has posted some pictures of the shirt on his website.
