Referees ready for first round of 16 matches

Fifa has announced that Wolfgang Stark will be in charge of the first match in the round of 16 on Saturday. He will handle the match between Uruguay and South Korea, only three days after taking charge of Slovenia – England.

Jorge Larrionda will be in charge of his fourth match in this World Cup when he handles the giant match between Germany and England on Sunday in Bloemfontein.

Referee: Jorge Larrionda, Uruguay

I’m guessing Busacca gets either Portugal – Spain or Brazil – Chile.

In my opinion, his refereeing team made a huge mistake in South Africa – Uruguay, by allowing that big offside right before the penalty kick. I was very surprised that most comments were focused on the penalty kick and the red card, while the mistake was actually the offside not signaled by the AR Arnet.

A lot of people didnt see that second touch on the knee of the forward. Probably not the AR either.

Does anyone knows why FIFA did not publish the appointments for the round of 16? They just posted the referees’ names in the previews 24 hours before the games.
