Pablo Pozo’s injury is not as serious as first reported, and he will stay in the World Cup camp with the rest of the referees throughout the tournament.
Pozo twisted his ankle during training and this Sunday’s match came too soon for him to referee. If he recovers, he will most likely be assigned a new match in the second set of appointments.
The original 30 refereeing teams were reduced to 29 after two referee teams had to withdraw due to failed fitness tests, with only one referee team called in as replacement. Currently 12 referees has yet to be appointed to a match.
