He's now refereeing in the Europa League. A promotion to the premier category next season would still see him ref Europa League. He wouldn't have many seasons left, and I guess UEFA would be hesitant promoting a referee for only one or two seasons on the elite category. Still, plenty of referees would be more than happy with becoming a FIFA-referee. In one way it makes sense. He’s now refereeing in the Europa League.
