A couple of observations:

  • Busacca, Webb, Hester, Pozo and Maillet all participated in the recent Confederations Cup
  • Mohd Salleh, Benouza, Coulibaly, Maillet and O’Leary also participated in the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt.
  • Coulibaly and Maillet participated in the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
  • Mohd Salleh is the only referee from this selection who participated in the 2005 FIFA U-17 World Cup.

(Thanks for the updates, Dan)

Mohd Salleh (Malaysia) and O’Leary (New Zealand) will only be reserve referees for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2009.

Thanks for the comment Dan.

It’s a bit annoying that the FIFA website’s representation doesn’t separate between referees and reserve referees.

Mohd Salleh and O’Leary are the only referees on the official list without assistans.

Is Ricardo Morgan (JAM) the third AR in the Jair Marrufo’s team, along with Morgante and Quisenberry, or did he replace another US assistant referee?

Ricardo Morgan did assist Jair Marrufo in the 2008 Olympics, but I’m not all that familiar with the referees outside of Europe.

There’s a discussion thread over on RateTheRef where some of these questions are discussed.

In that case, Marrufo is working with Morgante (USA), Quisenberry (USA) and Morgan (JAM). Anyway, it is a shame for USSF that they could not get a third US AR for Marrufo.
