It popped up on UEFA’s website today that the Belgian referee Frank De Bleeckere has been handed the responsibility of Friday’s Super Cup match between Barcelona and Shakthar Donetsk. The Belgian was in the running for last year’s Champions League final, but while Busacca was handed the final, De Bleeckere was handed an UEFA Cup semifinal.
The merited 43-year-old was selected for last year’s EURO 2008 and is preselected for the 2010 World Cup.
