36-year-old Dutch referee Bjorn Kuipers has been appointed to take charge of the U-21 final between Germany and England in Malmø on Sunday. Kuipers has recently been promoted to the Elite group of UEFA referees and this is his third match in the tournament.

UEFA.com writes:

“For the supermarket director from the town of Oldenzaal in the Netherlands, the appointment continues the progress he has made since being assigned fourth-official duties at the U21 tournament in 2007. He refereed five games in the UEFA Cup last season, having been the fourth official in five qualifying matches for UEFA EURO 2008™. Kuipers also took charge of the UEFA European U17 Championship final in 2006 between Czech Republic and Russia.”
