Hansson and Breeze gets final glory

by Martin Rødvand on June 28, 2009

FIFA today announced that the 38-year-old Swede Martin Hansson will be the referee of Sunday’s Confederations Cup final while Matthew Breeze from New Zealand will take charge of the third place showdown.

Sunday 28/06/09
Spain vs. South Africa: Matthew Breeze, New Zealand
USA vs. Brazil: Martin Hansson, Sweden

37-year-old Breeze did referee the third place match last Confederations Cup as well, but missed the final cut for the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Martin Hansson is no way guaranteed a place in the 2010 World Cup, but a strong performance will only help to keep his place in line for WC participation.
