Mark Clattenburg gets first appointment after suspension

by Martin Rødvand on May 20, 2009

After being through a living hell since August last year, Mark Clattenburg today received his first appointment from the PGMOL after his suspension. He will be refereeing the match between Manchester City and Bolton Wanderers, almost a year since he last refereed a top game.

Clattenburg was last August assigned to referee the Community Shield match between Manchester United and Portsmouth, but after the PGMOL received some information about his involvement in a heavily debted company he was suspended pending an investigation.

In January he got sacked from the PGMOL, but he appealed their decision and instead received an 8 months suspension. This suspension ended in April, but the PGMOL obviously wants to ease him into the premiership without making headlines. The match is not of vital importance for any of the teams.
